It's been an up-and-down year for Matt
IT has taken him a year, but he will get over the hump today, finally.
When climber Matt Loughrey (32) reaches the summit of Croagh Patrick today it will be the 365th day in a row he has climbed the Mayo mountain.
He has gone through six pairs of boots, three million steps and has lost two stone in that time -- and has taken some stunning photographs. The daily ascents were done in the hope of raising €100,000 for the St Vincent de Paul.
Originally from England, but living in Westport for seven years, the father of two said: "It's magical to stand on the summit up there. I can't describe it."
The businessman can make it up and back down in an hour and 12 minutes.
"It just shows you, you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it," he said.
