A photographer may have slipped to his death while trying to shoot scenery on the Aran Islands.
Gardai on Inis Mor, the largest of the three Aran islands off the Co Galway coast, fear that islander Brendan Gill may have fallen into the sea.
A land and sea search has been under way since the 34-year-old went missing last Saturday.
Mr Gill, a single man from Kilronan on Inis Mor, was last seen near the Black Fort on the largest of the Aran Islands.
He was known as a photography enthusiast and gardai believe he may have slipped into the water while taking pictures and was swept out to sea.
His bike was located near the scene and on Tuesday Mr Gill's jacket was discovered in the sea off the coast from where his bicycle was earlier found.
Gardai have appealed to islanders to help out with a search over the weekend.
