AN Irishman has been shot dead at a Spanish resort.

The man, aged in his 30s, was shot at the Spanish resort of Miraflores in southern Spain.

The Euro Weekly reports that the man was shot three times at around 11.30am this morning.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but the man was pronounced dead.

Independent.ie understands the man was an Irish citizen.

The shooter fled the scene on a bike with a getaway driver.

A police investigation into the shooting, which bears the hallmarks of a professional hit, is ongoing.

It is the second shooting in the area in a week.
