ST Patrick's Day celebrations in Sydney, Australia, were muted yesterday as one young Irishman fought for his life in hospital.
Paddy Fox (29), a native of Kildorrery in Co Cork, is on a life-support machine after the incident outside a bar near Coogee on Sunday evening.
His family was yesterday understood to be travelling from Cork to be by his bedside.
He was admitted to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with serious head and brain injuries, and underwent emergency surgery but remains critical.
A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm. He was released on bail but will appear in court on April 13.
