Irishman in intensive care after attackers stamped on his head in Sydney
AN Irishman is fighting for his life at a hospital in Sydney, following a vicious assault in which he was attacked by a number of men.
Kieran Cahill (25), from Killarney, Co Kerry, remains in intensive care, following the assault outside a Sydney nightclub on Monday.
It is understood that Mr Cahill had come to the aid of two women outside the nightclub on Sydney’s Goulburn Street when he was set upon by three men.
Two of the men were subsequently charged while another remains on the run.
It is understood Mr Cahill was punched in the face a number of times and knocked unconscious before one of the men stamped on his head repeatedly.
Police arrested a 24-year-old man at World Square in the city and a 26-year-old man at the junction of George and Liverpool Streets. The third evaded capture.
Both men were brought to City Central police station where one of them was charged with causing grievous bodily harm to Mr Cahill.
The other was released without charge.
