A judge has ruled that Basildon Council can remove caravans from 49 out of 54 plots at an illegal travellers' site at Dale Farm, Essex.
The council was also told it could remove most of the concrete pitches on the site that currently houses around 400 travellers.
According to the rule, walls, fences and gates should remain on site.
However, an injunction preventing any removal from the site is likely to remain in force until at least tomorrow.
The injunction was put in place after the travellers brought their own legal case against the council in a bid to avoid eviction.
Residents have made three separate applications for judicial review to stop the clearance of their homes.
The council has also been ordered to pay a third of their legal costs.
Basildon Council has been trying for ten years to remove the travellers from the site in Essex which is on green belt land
