Toyota is recalling 39 Prius cars sold in Ireland because of a problem with the steering column.
The cars from 2000 to 2003, are part of a global recall of some 139,000 vehicles, including 106,000 first generation Prius hybrid vehicles.
'If the steering wheel is repeatedly and strongly turned to the full-lock position, there is a possibility the nuts securing the pinion shaft in the steering gear box assembly may become loose,” a statement from Toyota Ireland said.
The company will be writing to the owners of the cars affected, so they can arrange to have the problem fixed.
