"When I checked my ticket in the newsagent the machine said 'Contact Lotto HQ'.
"Then I asked my brother to check his laptop and as he read them out it all clicked and I realised that I had won," he said.
The winning numbers were 3, 7, 11, 33, 37 and 42 and the bonus number was 39.
Gerry has been playing the same numbers since the competition began.
"I have the cheque now but I won't feel like it's real until it clears.
"The bank manager was anxious to see me and chat to me, that was a turn up for the books," he said with a laugh.
Gerry is separated and said that he is on the lookout for a nice woman.
"I've a brand new Transit van arriving on Thursday, how could any woman say no to that?" he quipped.
