Ireland may aid Somali pirate fight

IRELAND may consider aiding an EU naval mission to stop pirates off Somalia, but not until August 2013, Justice and Defence Minister Alan Shatter has said.
The Sunday Independent first revealed in March this year that Ireland had been asked by the EU naval mission off Somalia to join the struggle against the pirates. But Mr Shatter said five countries had offered detachments to the EU and no vacancies existed until August 2013. He said consideration may be given closer to that time.
