Investigation launched into alleged attempted abduction of 11-year-old

Gardaí have launched an investigation into the alleged attempted abduction of an 11-year-old boy in Mullingar yesterday morning.

The incident happened at approximately 8:45am on Ashe Road yesterday morning.

The boy was allegedly approached by a man in an "old style red" vehicle. The boy continued his journey to school and alerted his teachers when he got there.

Gardaí have confirmed to Independent.ie that they have launched an investigation into the incident.
