There were several breaches of regulations at the Shrewsbury House nursing home in Clonliffe Road last August.

The home has been operating for 54 years, caring for 36 residents.

The breaches included:

• Poor standards of cleanliness and infection control.

• Failure to ensure robust risk management.

• Lack of appropriate supervision of staff.

The report also details an accident when a resident fell out of a hoist sling and broke a bone.

The inspectors also found there was a failure to review the competence of a nurse in administering a strong painkiller.

The managers of the home have been given an action plan to remedy the faults and a number of improvements have already been completed.
