In full bloom: spring's already sprung

SPRING has already sprung in gardens across Ireland, judging by these photos submitted to a national radio show.

Listeners to the John Murray Show on RTE Radio One sent in their personal photos taken of flowers already in bloom in their home gardens this week, including daffodils, fuschia and primula.

The early blossoming is down to an exceptionally mild January and mild autumn, with relatively few nights of hard frost, according to Met Eireann meteorologist Pat Clarke.
