in Brief: Top analysts to share their views on the economic crisis with road tour

Ireland's leading commentators on economics and politics are to take to the roads, bringing their insight, wit and wisdom to a venue near you. As part of the Penguin Live public events, Shane Ross TD, Sunday Independent Business Editor Nick Webb, David McWilliams and Fintan O'Toole – in conversation with Olivia O'Leary – will examine the crisis and debate where we go from here.

They will be appearing tonight at 7.30 in Cork Opera House; on Tuesday at 7.30pm in the Bord Gais Theatre, Dublin; and next Sunday, December 2, they're at the Radisson Hotel, Galway, at 7.30pm. Tickets for Cork Opera House, €26; and Dublin and Galway events €25.

Shay Healy has set up a Facebook page – Shay Healy Eurosong Mentor – in his quest to find a song to represent Ireland in Eurosong 2013, in Malmo, Sweden.

He invites songwriters to submit a maximum of two songs to, including an MP3 of your demo entry with a photo or MP4/DVD with full details of song and artist.

Christ Church Christmas concert

CHRIST Church Cathedral will hold its annual Christmas Concert featuring the resident Cathedral Choir on Thursday, December 13, at 8pm. Under the direction of Ian Keatley, director of music, the choir will be accompanied by acclaimed organist and composer David Bremner.

Sing along with old favourites such as O Come, All Ye Faithful; Good King Wenceslas; Silent Night; and Handel's Hallelujah Chorus in a beautiful, candlelit setting.

The 17th AGM of the Irish Association of Older People will take place in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin, at 11am this Thursday, November 29.

Calling all young songwriters

SOLIDARITY Songs is a national young songwriter competition jointly organised by Kerry One World Centre Tralee with Kerry Diocesan Youth Service (KDYS), & Clubheadbangbang. The goal is to encourage young songwriters and to raise awareness of global issues.
