In brief: Horse trainer Jim Bolger honoured for his leading role in charitable projects

International horse trainer and breeder Jim Bolger is to receive a County Wexford People of the Year 2011 leadership award for his support of community activities, sports development and charitable organisations.

The awards are organised annually by disability charity Rehab in association with the Wexford People and are sponsored by Wexford County Council, Wexford Community Forum, John A Sinnott Solicitors and MA O'Leary, auctioneers. RTE newsreader Eileen Dunne will present the awards at a formal dinner at the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy, on Friday, March 25, at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at €50. 'Peter Pan' auditions open next month

THE search is on for Irish boys to take part in a new musical production of Peter Pan that will have its world premiere in the Grand Canal Theatre, Dublin, next July. The producers are looking for three boys to play the role of Michael Darling along with two teams of 10 boys to play the Lost Boys. Any boy between the age of seven and 12 who is interested in the Michael Darling role, as well as boys between seven and 14 who want to play one of the Lost Boys, should attend auditions at Grand Canal Theatre from 9.30am on Sunday, April 10.

Tickets on sale for musical 'Chess'

A production of the musical Chess will run at the Grand Canal Theatre from March 22 to 26. The world-famous musical is directed by Craig Revel Horwood of Strictly Come Dancing and the cast includes a host of West End stars. Chess tells the story of a romantic triangle between two chess grandmasters and the woman they fall in love with. Lyrics are by Tim Rice and music is from ABBA's Benny Anderson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster.
