Hairdresser Aidan Fitzgerald of Blackrock, Co Dublin, has been invited to the UK by the Fellowship for British Hairdressing to show his skills. He'll join UK hairdressers for a gala night at the Wella World Studio on July 1.
TRANSATLANTIC VIBE TO MUSIC FESTIVAL
Sligo Live, a festival of folk, roots and indie music, takes place place from October 23 to 28, bringing together Irish and US musicians to reveal influences that are audible in the music as it travels back and forth across the Atlantic.

DigiWomen will co-host the next Dublin Pub Summit in the Grafton Lounge, Royal Hibernian Way, Dawson Street, Dublin, this Thursday at 6.30pm.
The informal free event is open to all in the tech industry and is a chance for entrepreneurs, programmers, bloggers and investors to join start-ups, investors, community builders and others for some good old-fashioned offline social networking.
GATHER ROUND AT UCC TO TRACE ROOTS
UCC is to host Ireland's first Genealogy Summer School during the first week of July. There will be workshops, talks on aspects of family history including case-studies, and field-trips.
Participants include top historians plus the genealogists who traced Barack Obama's Irish ancestry.
