Tributes have been paid to a schoolboy who died following a motorbike accident on the north coast.
Daniel Sheridan (13), from the Friarstown area of Tallaght, Co Dublin, fell from his bike while practising motocross on coastal dunes outside Limavady on Thursday. He was flown to Altnagelvin Area Hospital in Co Derry for emergency treatment but tragically died yesterday.
The Sheridan family are well known in the Friarstown area, and compete at a high level in the sport of motocross.
It is understood Daniel was practising the sport with his brother Jake in Limavady when the tragedy happened.
His parents were yesterday travelling home from the North to be comforted by close family and friends.
Daniel's heartbroken brother Dean described him as "a kind and gentle young boy" who "wouldn't hurt a fly".
"I'll truly miss him - my hero, my everything, my world," he told the Irish Daily Mirror.
"He was something special, such a nice boy, a blessing of a brother."
Daniel was a pupil at St Killian's Senior School in Tallaght. The school's parents association yesterday extended its deepest sympathies to his family and friends. The school was due to open at midday today for those who would like to gather in remembrance.
Last night, Motorcycling Ireland Motocross extended its sympathies and "thoughts to the Sheridan family in this incredibly sad time".
