How much heartbreak can one aspiring pop star take?
Last night, X Factor perennial contestant and Dublin native Melanie McCabe was booted off the talent show.
It was Melanie's fourth time appearing on the ITV show.
Viewers were outraged with judge Nicole Scherzinger's decision but Melanie is determined to keep singing her heart out.
"I'm obviously very disappointed not to have got any further in the show," she told the Herald last night.
"But I do believe everything happens for a reason and I'm determined to carry on performing and pursuing my dream."
Melanie also says the support from Irish fans has been encouraging.
"I've been overwhelmed by the support from everyone at home in Ireland and I hope they continue to follow me in whatever I do next."
But a fifth appearance on The X Factor is off the cards for the young singer.
Earlier this year Melanie said she'll bid a final farewell to the glitz and glamour of The X Factor if she got kicked out again.
"It's my fourth time in X Factor. If I don't get through I won't do it, or another talent show again,' she said.
"I wasn't even sure about doing it this year.
"Most famous singers haven't done them so I suppose the next step would be to do it the way other singers do," she said.
Whitehall native Melanie blew the judges away when she sang an emotional rendition of Katy Perry's The One That Got Away in the boot camp round.
But, the competition heated up when she touched down at Nicole's plush pad.
As if that wasn't enough pressure Melanie was performing in front of famous singer Mary J Blige -- a women renowned for belting out ballads and hit singles.
The last time the Dubliner got to the judges homes stage of the competition, in Miami in 2011, she was sent packing by Kelly Rowland.
Melanie may have missed out but college student Tamera Foster, sales assistant Abi Alton and Hannah Barrett all made it into Nicole's group and are one step closer to nabbing the X Factor title.
