Mr Reck told Independent.ie about the incident.

"I got on the 25x in Lucan and the bus was fairly packed but there was an empty seat near the back on the upper deck.

"I went to sit down and I felt discomfort, I looked and there was a bunch of nails stuck into the seat.

"I was shocked so I sat on the seat behind and put my bag there so nobody would sit on them.

"Somebody then asked to sit there and I told them about the nails and they removed the nails themselves."

Mr Reck contacted Dublin Bus on Twitter and they apologised, confirming they had been in touch with the Inspector on duty.

A Dublin Bus spokesperson confirmed to Independent.ie that an incident occurred on Route 25x from Lucan, this morning.

They added that the bus has been taken out of service and the incident is currently being investigated.
