Hungry for a win as locals sing for Mary
THE race for the Aras must surely be hungry work.
Special Olympics organiser Mary Davis was busy pressing the flesh yesterday as she shook hands, offered witty anecdotes and cocked her ears to the warblings of Limerick natives at the city's Milk Market.
There were artisan cheeses to tempt the gourmands, while those in need of a pick-me-up might have been attracted by the lesser-known culinary delicacies 'Celtic eggs'.
It can be safely assumed that the tasty morsels would raise the eyebrows of any calorie-counting nutritionist, as the free-range egg comes wrapped in black pudding and sausage meat before being deep-fried in breadcrumbs.
It is not known whether Ms Davis felt in need of a bit of comfort food before addressing Limerick County Council later today as part of her campaign to secure the nomination of four local authorities.
