HSBC planning to shed 25 jobs

Twenty-five jobs are at risk at banking giant HSBC Ireland.

Sources said jobs will be lost at the Dublin docklands-based firm that has a staff of 700, but the redundancies will be far lower than feared.

earlier this year HSBC announced it would shed 25,000 jobs worldwide up to the end of 2013.

"We are not commenting on specifics but HSBC is going through an efficiency programme as described in May," said a spokesman.

He said "a variety of roles" would be affected.

HSBC is Europe's largest bank but does not have retail outlets here.
