THE Health and Safety Authority is the statutory body responsible for enforcing health and safety laws.
It can take legal action to enforce standards and it promotes accident prevention by advising companies, organisations and workers.
The authority also works to ensure that the manufacture and use of chemicals do not harm public health or the environment.
Set up under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 1989, it is an agency of the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.
