How we conducted the polling
THE survey results presented here are derived from the Irish Independent/Millward Brown Lansdowne opinion poll.
The poll was conducted among a sample of 1,035 adults representative of the approximate 3.35 million adults aged 18 and over -- interviewed on a face-to-face basis in the home at 93 sampling points throughout all constituencies in the Republic.
Interviewing on the poll was carried out on Saturday 18th and Monday June 10, 2011.
However, the two specific questions on the presidential election first preference vote and the best Fine Gael candidates were asked on Monday only.
As a result, these two questions have a smaller sample size of 454.
This polling on Monday was done to take account of the nomination of Michael D Higgins as Labour Party candidate and the entry of Avril Doyle into the race for the Fine Gael nomination.
The poll was conducted in accordance with the guidelines set by ESOMAR and AIMRO (European and Irish Market and Opinion Research governing bodies).
