How they voted on crucial legislation

In the crucial second stage vote on the Finance Bill, the Government got support of:

  • 70 out of 72 Fianna Fail TDs


(Former Justice Minister Dermot Ahern was missing due to his hospital treatment for a back injury. Noel Treacy had been expected to be absent due to his treatment for prostate cancer but even though he was present, he did not vote. Fine Gael gave a "pair" for both -- two of their TDs did not vote)



  • 6 Green Party TDs
  • 4 Independents -- Mary Harney, Michael Lowry, Jackie Healy-Rae and Joe Behan (who voted for the Budget and has said he will support the Finance Bill)


Total: 80

The opposition got the support of:



  • 49 Fine Gael TDs
  • 20 Labour Party TDs
  • 5 Sinn Fein TDs
  • 3 Independents -- Noel Grealish, Finian McGrath and Maureen O'Sullivan


Total: 77
