House sales hit three-year high
THE number of houses changing hands and the value of sales in Dublin has climbed to a three-year high.
But there are just 3,400 homes available for sale in the capital and this lack of supply is being blamed for driving prices higher.
Angela Keegan, managing director of MyHome.ie, said both banks and local authorities needed to take action to address the shortage. She cautiously welcomed the increase in activity as heartening but warned it was "coming off a low base".
Almost €2.1bn was spent on property in the Dublin region in the first nine months of the year, a rise of 29pc on the €1.6bn spent in the same period in 2012. The number of transactions also rose 13pc.
