Hotel staff opt for fewer days
STAFF at the Gresham Hotel have opted to work a shorter week and claim the dole rather than have their wages slashed.
The landmark Dublin hotel's workforce of more than 200 has voted by over 80pc in favour of a deal that means they will avoid a pay cut of up to 10pc.
Instead, they will work up to 24 less days per year and will claim social welfare for the days they are out of work. They voted in favour of the deal after their union, SIPTU, put forward a shorter working week proposal.
