The presenter yesterday spoke of the "heartache" she felt after losing those closest to her and said it can be hard to enjoy Christmas when someone you want to spend time with is no longer there.

She was speaking at the launch of the Irish Hospice Foundation's (IHF) 'Never Forgotten' appeal which calls on the public to record a message to loved ones who have passed away at www.neverforgotten.ie.

The messages will then be displayed online and in a special book of remembrance which will be on show in the IHF library throughout 2016.

The public is also asked to donate to the IHF which provides funding for more than 1,500 nights of nursing care annually.
