Homes evacuated after suspect device is found outside south Dublin house
Homes in a south Dublin suburb were evacuated last night after a suspect device was found on the road outside a private house.
Emergency services were called and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal arrived to the scene at Sallynoggin, Co Dublin at 11.45pm.
A cordon was established and families were evacuated from their homes until the device was made safe.
The viable explosive device was made safe at the scene. It was then removed to a secure military location for further examination where it was confirmed as viable.
The scene was declared safe at 2 am.
The Defence Forces are reporting 123 call outs to 32 viable devices so far this year.
In 2014 there was 141 Calls Outs to 53 viable devices.
