A wellbeing team has been installed at Apollo House where residents and volunteers can enjoy holistic services, a pool table and hairdressing.

Emily Duffy, from Home Sweet Home, said that the wellness team will provide different treatments, including hairdressing and medical services.

"We're looking into people's medical needs and warmth but then we're looking into holistic services," she said.

"They're possibly looking at starting a gym."

One paramedic in the Apollo House support team said some of the residents are being provided with basic medical support.

"There are people coming here who have other medical issues, who have been sleeping in doorways for weeks or months and they're coming in here with everything from general aches and pains, colds and flues, to not having pre-existing medical conditions attended to in quite some time," he said.

"We're providing basic assessment here and basic support. We then refer them back into the GP services."

The volunteer team is also looking into throwing a New Year's Eve party for residents.

It follows a successful Christmas Day in the building where Glen Hansard played some songs and the residents had Christmas dinner.
