Holiday bookings 'surge 15 to 30pc'

TRAVEL agents have reported a surge in bookings for package holidays from cash-conscious Irish people.

More than 50,000 people flocked to the Holiday World Show in the RDS in Dublin at the weekend in the hope of bagging a bargain holiday.

Travel agents said people were reluctant to cut back on their summer getaway, with bookings up between 15pc to 30pc at travel agencies.
