Eoghan MacConnell

GARDAI are investigating the circumstances surrounding the second bomb attack on a house in just over two months.

Gardai were alerted to a suspected petrol bomb attack at the house in Lisfarrell, Edgeworthstown, Co Longford, on Sunday.

Officers found a broken window at the rear of the house and evidence of an attempt to set the house alight. They also discovered a suspicious device at the front gate of the property.

Captain Patrick O'Connor confirmed an army bomb disposal unit had arrived at the scene at 11.45pm.

"The device turned out to be a hoax and the scene was handed back to gardai at 1.20am," Cpt O'Connor said.
