Hoax device found at house

A CRUDELY constructed device found in the driveway of a home in south Dublin yesterday turned out to be an elaborate hoax.

The alarm was raised yesterday afternoon after the device, which resembled a pipe bomb, was discovered outside the house at Drumcairn Avenue in Fettercairn, Dublin.

Gardai called in an Army bomb disposal unit and the area was cleared while it was examined by ordnance officers.

The Army later gave the all-clear and last night gardai were carrying out inquiries into the planting of the device.
