THE daughter of leading US hip-hop artist Jazzy Jay married her long- term, Irish boyfriend, after she was denied a visa to stay in Ireland.
Jazmine Byas (24), a classical oboe player from Brooklyn, New York, married Danny Lambert (26), from Bray, Co Wicklow, at Hammersmith & Fulham Town Hall in London yesterday.
The happy couple flew back to Dublin last night for a reception with family and friends in Solas on Wexford Street.
"They went over Friday and it was just one of those things," Danny's father Aiden told the Irish Independent. "I'm thrilled. Jazmine is a lovely girl."
The young couple's nuptials were accelerated by repeated issues in getting Jazmine a visa that would allow her to stay living in Ireland with her boyfriend of four years.
The newlyweds were shocked when Jazmine's visa application was rejected by the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service in November, as was the couple's subsequent appeal.
Ms Byas's father is world-famous hip hop DJ Jazzy Jay, one of the creators of Def Jam Recordings.
