After an under-whelming start to the weekend, we should be enjoying warm, sunny weather for the next three days.

Heavy bursts of rain swept the country this morning, but it is expected to turn showery this afternoon with many dry, bright spells and highest temperatures of 12-16C.

Met Eireann have said it will be mild tonight with lowest temperatures of 8-11C.

The showery rain will continue but is expected to clear by tomorrow morning, with patches of fog developing along the south and southeast coast overnight.

We can look forward to a warm, sunny Sunday as the ‘mini heatwave’ arrives at last, sending temperatures soaring to 20C or 21C across the country.

It will be cooler along with east coast with moderate easterly breezes and highest temperatures of 15-19C.

Parts of the country may experience scattered and possibly thundery showers in the afternoon and evening.

Sunday night will be mainly dry with clear spells, with temperatures dropping to 9-12C.

Met Eireann predict Monday will be another warm day, with temperatures hitting 22C in many parts of the country.

It will be dry in most areas, although Munster and south Leinster may see some cloudy spells with showery rain in the afternoon.

Following a wet Monday night, the sun will continue to shine on Tuesday across the country as temperatures will again reach 19-22C, although it will be cloudier in Munster and south Leinster.
