A helicopter has been forced to make an emergency landing in a field earlier today in County Louth.

No one was injured when the aircraft came down, and the only occupant was the helicopter’s 60-year-old pilot.

The incident happen shortly after 4:55pm near South Commons in Carlingford, a Gardaí spokesperson said.

“We arrived on the scene along with other emergency services shortly after the aircraft came down.

“The helicopter landed in an empty field and no one was nearby when it came down.

“We and the Air Navigation Investigation Unit are now investigating the incident.”
