Hector to take on Facebook imposter

Ken Sweeney Entertainment Reporter

BROADCASTER Hector O hEochagain (right) has vowed to out an imposter who has been impersonating him on Facebook during his new breakfast show today.

The fraudster has attracted nearly 2,000 friends online despite O hEochagain's solicitors contacting the social-networking site.

"I've written to Facebook through my solicitors for the last two years saying this is not me. This guy impersonating me on Facebook has 1,500, 1,600, 2,000 friends," he said.

The 41-year-old former travel show presenter said the impersonator even goes as far as to communicate with fans.

"A girl asked me yesterday, 'Why won't you invite me on to your page?'" he told 'Hot Press'.

"I said, 'I don't have a page. I'm not on Facebook'. But yer man answers back saying, 'Great to see you the other day at the Roisin Dubh. Yeah, great gig, wasn't it?' That's not me!

"The guy masquerading as me on Facebook answers people back as me. So I'm going to 'out' this guy.

"This guy is going to get it. If he doesn't have red hair, I'm going to cut the balls off him."

To mark the first edition of the new show, the rest of 2fm's schedule will also be transmitted from Galway today.

The new 7am-9am slot replaces Colm Hayes and Jim Jim Nugent, whose show was cancelled in the latest reshuffle.
