A Dublin teenager has been killed in a car accident in Co Kildare.
The 18-year-old lost his life when the car he was driving was involved in a crash some time after midnight yesterday.
It is believed the car lay in a drain until lunchtime when it was discovered by a member of the public.
The teenager, named locally as Evan Nolan, who was originally from Clondalkin but living in Derrinturn, Co Kildare, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was taken to Naas General Hospital for a post-mortem. Local parish priest Fr John Fitzpatrick extended his sympathies to his family.
“It’s very, very sad for the family and for the whole area,” he told the Herald.
Tributes to the victim poured in on social media last night, with friends expressing their shock.
“Heaven really has gained an angel, you were the nicest lad I ever met and hadn’t a bad word to say about anyone,” wrote one.
Another posted: “You’re my best friend and always will. I will never forget you bro. I love you so much.”
The stretch of road where the accident happened was closed yesterday to allow forensic investigators to examine the scene.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses, particularly those who travelled on the R402 between Carbury and Edenderry between midnight and 2pm yesterday, to contact Leixlip Garda Station.
