FORMER TD Jackie Healy-Rae is considering making a return to Kerry County Council.

There had been speculation that Mr Healy-Rae -- who was first elected as a TD for Kerry South in 1997 -- would be co-opted to fill the seat vacated by his son Michael, who was elected to the Dail in his place.

Last night, Mr Healy-Rae, who turned 80 yesterday, was keeping everyone guessing. He said: "I couldn't tell you. I haven't made up my mind yet."

He sat on Kerry County Council for 30 years before being elected to the Dail.

Another son, Danny Healy-Rae, is also a county councillor.
