The student, from Mahon, will work alongside Denise O'Connor from RTE's 'Design Doctors' and Catherine Crowe from Optimise Design in revamping the room after winning the Facebook contest.

The teenager, who recently finished transition year and completed the President's Gaisce bronze award programme, said she is delighted to win the DFS-sponsored prize.

She said: "I was so shocked that I was picked. This is an amazing opportunity to see into the world of interior design."
