Flu has claimed the lives of 14 people, bringing the death toll from the illness to 29 this winter.

Elderly people, who are also bearing the brunt of the hospital trolley crisis, are the most affected.

The latest report on flu shows levels are still rising although the number of outbreaks has decreased.

So far this winter, thirty patients with flu have had to be admitted to intensive care.

It comes as hospitals continue to struggle with overcrowding again today, with 484 patients waiting for a bed.

Flu is likely to be circulating for many weeks yet and it is not too late to get the vaccine.
