Having come back from the brink, the Benhaffaf boys are all set for their next adventure.

Hassan and Hussein, now five years old and as much of a handful as any boys their age, yesterday visited the air corps crew who brought them to the UK for surgery after they were born conjoined in December 2009. Mum Angie paid tribute to the crew and recalled her feelings setting out on that journey exactly five years ago to the day.

"I remember no one speaking on the flight because we didn't know what would happen," she said.

But five years on and the two boys, described as little "ambassadors of happiness", are thriving and all set for school in September.

"Our dream was always that they would walk into school hand in hand - and now that is going to happen this September," Angie said.
