THE controversial €10 airport tax could be scrapped in next month's Budget. The revelation came as new figures showed the much-criticised air travel tax will will fall a massive €45m short of projections.
Tourism Minister Mary Hanafin yesterday indicated the tax may be scrapped.
"The industry has been telling me that the travel tax goes against the spirit of trying to attract tourism and while it was originally targeted at bringing in approximately €125m it looks like it may only bring in €80m this year," she said.
The €10 tax was introduced in 2008.
