A SHOOTING victim was in a serious condition in hospital last night after he was blasted twice in a housing-estate gun attack.

The 32-year-old man was hit in the chest and leg as he tried to flee his attacker.

The incident took place shortly after 5.30pm in Rowlagh Avenue in Clondalkin, Dublin.

The victim was pursued across the estate and tried to take refuge in a house.

The female occupant of the house contacted the emergency services and the man was treated in the kitchen before being rushed to Tallaght Hospital by ambulance.

He underwent surgery for his wounds last night as gardai tried to establish a motive for the attack.

Eyewitnesses said they saw one man in a balaclava helmet running away.

Gardai hope to interview the shooting victim later today. They have appealed to anyone with information about the shooting to contact Ronanstown station.
