Gun robbers escape with €28,000 of jewels

ARMED robbers held up staff in a jewellery shop and escaped with a large quantity of gold rings.

Two men armed with a gun entered the shop in Aungier Street, Dublin, at 5 pm yesterday. They threatened staff at gunpoint and stole several items of jewellery, worth €28,000.

The raiders made their escape in a grey Opel Astra which they abandoned a short distance away on Aungier Lane.

One of the culprits was considerably more than six feet tall and was wearing a blue balaclava, a sleeveless yellow high vis jacket, a blue hooded top, jeans, and runners.

The other raider was around five feet 10 inches to six feet tall, wearing jeans, a sleeveless yellow high vis jacket and a blue hard hat. Both were believed to be aged in their late 20s or early 30s.
