Guinness is good for you? Just check the can
The famous slogan "Guinness is good for you" may seem out of date in the health-conscious modern world.
But now consumers can make an informed decision with the help of nutritional labelling.
It is the first global beer brand to provide information in Ireland on its 500ml can for calories, carbohydrates, protein and sugar as well as grams of alcohol per serving.
The new labels by Diageo also provide warnings on drink driving and consuming alcohol during pregnancy.
Director of corporate relations at Diageo Liam Reid explained that the launch of the labels was part of its ongoing efforts to give consumers the power to make informed decisions.
Mr Reid said the company was also hoping over the next 12 months to provide beer mats to pubs nationwide with informative messages and nutritional information for consumers.
Meanwhile, Nestlé Breakfast Cereals has made a commitment to reduce the sugar content across its range of breakfast bestsellers by a further 10pc by the end of 2018.
