Guide dog centre gets new leash of life
A PACK of four-legged friends yesterday gave Taoiseach Enda Kenny a demonstration of their abilities and the difference they make to their owners' lives, writes Ralph Riegel.
Mr Kenny was at the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind's (IGDB) headquarters in Cork to officially open its redeveloped €5m training centre.
First opened in 1981, the Model Farm Road centre has trained hundreds of guide dogs.
"The IGDB does tremendous work and I am delighted to open this new centre," Mr Kenny said.
