Group attacks diners with hammer and pepper spray
Two people have been arrested after a vicious hammer and pepper spray attack at a popular Dublin restaurant - where some families were celebrating First Holy Communions.
The incident happened shortly after 7pm yesterday at Nando's in Santry.
A group of people entered the restaurant and attacked another group who had been eating a meal.
"It was very scary - these guys came in and some of them had hammers and what looked like pepper spray," one diner told the Irish Independent.
"There were families there and lots of children so it was chaos for a few minutes as everyone not involved tried to rush back out.
"One guy was bleeding heavily, and some others had been sprayed but the rest of the people eating there managed to rush out the back."
Gardaí have confirmed that two people were arrested last night for public order offences in relation to the incident, and they are being held at Ballymun garda station.
