Grenade from WWII made safe

A World War Two-era grenade discovered in an old garden shed was yesterday made safe by army bomb disposal experts.

It was found at an address in Roseberry, Newbridge, Co Kildare. "The grenade was removed and destroyed," said a Defence Forces spokesman.

Bail for man on sex assault charge

A BUSINESSMAN charged over an alleged sexual assault in north Dublin this month was remanded on continuing bail yesterday pending directions from the DPP.

Anthony Lyons (49), of Griffith Avenue, had been charged with sexual assault of a woman on October 3. Mr Lyons will appear again on November 29.

ATM raid gang steals €100,000

A gang got away with €100,000 in a raid on a shopping centre ATM. The raiders forced their way into the Heaton's store at Centre Point Retail Park in Roscommon town and broke open the ATM.

Gardai were yesterday examining CCTV footage.
