THE small, green pills that have caused a number of deaths in Ireland have also been linked to tragedy around the globe.
The pills, pictured, are known as 'green apples' or 'green rolex' depending on the small image printed on the batch.
The drugs are particularly lethal because they can carry any number of unknown and potentially harmful chemicals.
Particularly dangerous substances found in the pills include the stimulant methoxyamphetamine, also known as PMA, and paramethoxymethamphetamine (PMMA)
In the UK, media reports said the green tablets were responsible for the deaths of more than 20 young people last summer.
The tablets are known to cause extremely high temperatures and convulsions, leading to hyperthermia, or over-heating of the body, and subsequent death.
