GP quizzed on assault claims

A DOCTOR has been arrested and questioned by gardai over allegations he had inappropriate physical contact with a number of female patients in the 1990s.

The doctor, who is based in the Munster area, was arrested last month and released without charge following a number of assault complaints from several women.

None of the women are known to each other and all of the alleged incidents occurred while the complainants were aged between 14 and 18 years.

It is understood the teenagers attended the GP, now in his 50s, to have ordinary medical issues dealt with.

He has denied any such inappropriate physical contact. A file is being prepared for the DPP.
