Government to give €70m for flood and storm damage

The Government is going to give €70m to councils to cover the cost of damage from the storms and floods.

The funding is in addition to €25m humanitarian fund being given to victims of the floods.

The €70m will go mostly to local authorities.

Environment Minister Phil Hogan briefed the Cabinet about the damage caused by the storms over the past six weeks.
